Join Us For a Lent Group Led by St Francis Church
We will be meeting each Wednesday of Lent
at 9 The Close, Petts Wood, BR5 1JA, from 8 pm to 9pm.
This year we will be discussing Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical on the environment ‘Laudato Si’.
The document is available free at::https://www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/encyclicals/documents/papa-francesco_20150524_enciclica-laudato-si.html
Laudato Si brings together the best from a number of disciplines to analyse our current ecological crisis from a Christian perspective.
The analysis goes well beyond just environmental problems, examining the whole way human society has become distorted by modern trends in human values and technological progress.
The outline is as follows:
Weds 12th March
Ch 1, The environmental and social problems laid out.
Weds 19th March
Ch 2, What a faith perspective has to contribute.
Weds 26th March
Ch 3, The negative aspects of technology and globalism.
Weds 2nd April
Ch 4, Thinking about an integrated theology of ecology and the common good.
Weds 9th April
Ch 5, Towards solutions.
Weds 16th April
